FREE

A translated text is provided, in electronic or paper format. They are also called "STANDARD TRANSLATIONS".

These are the most frequently requested translations, in technical, advertising, editorial, or informative fields.

CERTIFIED

A translated text is provided, in electronic or paper format, accompanied by a statement of conformity drafted and signed by the translator; he certifies that the translated text conforms to the original and indicates its details.

This type of translation HAS NO LEGAL VALUE and cannot be legalised or apostilled. In Italy, it is not accepted by any Public Authority or Office (e.g., Citizenship or Municipality), while some institutions in the Anglo-Saxon world (USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand...) sometimes do.

SWORN

A translated text is provided in paper format, where a public official (Court Clerk or Notary) authenticates the translator's signature - who assumes civil liability for the translation - through a sworn statement.

Stamp duties are affixed during attestation.

This type of translation HAS LEGAL VALUE and can be legalised or apostilled. In Italy, it is accepted as legally valid; elsewhere in the world, it is similarly acquired, subject to Apostille or legalisation where required.

In some countries (e.g., Russia), a free translation of the oath statement is also required.
In Italy, it is not allowed by law to proceed with sworn translations between two foreign languages; in such cases, it is also necessary to provide a sworn translation into Italian, which will be inserted between the source and target languages.

This type of oath is commonly referred to as "interlingua" and involves 2 sworn statements, with stamp duties affixed to both sworn translations.

SWORN TRANSLATIONS

Sworn translations (also called certified translations or 'sworn translations' in English) are required when a document needs to be translated and submitted to an authority, notary, or institution while maintaining its legal value, or when a legally certified translation of any text or document is requested.

This applies to:

Documents originating from abroad (which will require a sworn translation into Italian). This is, for example, required for submitting documentation to Chambers of Commerce, courts, the Motor Vehicles Office, or the Revenue Agency.
Italian documents destined for abroad (which will require a sworn translation into another language).

Legal provisions

The sworn legal translations by the agency in Rome are carried out and signed on the appropriate oath/affidavit by native-speaking translators duly registered with the list of technical consultants of various Courts in Rome and Lazio.

They are endowed with actual legal value, as they are sworn and signed by a recognised translator accredited by the competent Court.

The translations, always complete and conforming in every part to the original document, are prepared taking into account the following current regulations.

The translation must be sworn by the translator and written on stamped paper of €16.00, or on unstamped sheets, on which €16.00 in revenue stamps must be affixed to each sheet; alternatively, the translation can be written on A4 pages with 25 lines per page, and in this case, revenue stamps of €16.00 must be affixed every 4 pages, or every 100 lines;
At the end of the translation (or if there is no space on the back of it), the translator must affix the stamp of the Sworn Statement, which the translator must fill out with their surname and name, as well as the details of the identity document;
The connection between the document to be translated and the translation must be made by the translator, either with their signature or stamp, or with the dated stamp, before submission to the Office;
Each document must be translated individually, even if related to the same person or part of the same case;
The document to be translated may be in original or in photocopy and must precede the translation, to which it must be stapled to form a single document to be followed by the Sworn Statement;

In the case in which the translation is from Italian to Arabic, the Sworn Statement must always be placed at the conclusion of the document;
It is not permitted under any circumstances to translate from one foreign language to another foreign language; therefore, the translator must make two separate and consecutive translations: the first from the foreign language to Italian and the second from Italian to the foreign language (e.g., when translating from English to French, the translator must translate from English to Italian and then from Italian to French, with two translations to be sworn individually); therefore, 2 oaths with respective revenue stamps will be necessary;
If the document to be translated contains parts in Italian, these must be fully transcribed in the translation; likewise, when the translation is into the foreign language;
Stamps must be translated, and signatures must be reproduced; if they are unclear or illegible, it must be specified that the stamp is illegible and the signature illegible;
Photographs and various stamps placed on the document must be mentioned by the translator (for example, photo of the person concerned, stamp of £..., etc.).

CAESAR also reminds that all revenue stamps affixed by the translator on the translation, before presenting it to the office, are cancelled by the office itself at the time of the registration of the translation in the chronological register.

FREE

The agency in Rome (operating nationwide) aims to provide you with a comprehensive service. For orders exceeding €250.00 net of VAT (excluding stamp duty and consular fees), delivery of translations is offered free of charge throughout Britain. This is facilitated by reliable and fast couriers such as DHL, TNT, UPS, GLS, and Pony Express.

For orders below €250.00, there is a delivery fee of €10.00 or €20.00 depending on the delivery address.

Home delivery in Rome will occur within a few hours via Pony Express and within 1-3 working days throughout Britain (depending on the destination) and worldwide via express courier.

However, since some foreign countries consider a validity period of only 3 months, the agency advises you to use the certificates within 3 months to avoid problems once presented abroad.
